Growing up on a farm in inevitable isolation really shaped this piece. I wanted to capture the solitude and introspection that comes with rural life, amidst youthful energy and imagination. Those long stretches of time in nature gave me a lot of space for self-reflection and helped me form a deep connection with the land. It taught me a slower, more meditative way of living—but as an extrovert, it came with its own set of challenges. That isolation became a crucible for my creative self-discovery, forcing me to look inward, to explore the tension between surrender and mastery without the noise of the outside world.
The vast, open spaces of the farm show up in the expansive energy of this piece, embodying both freedom and restraint. The figure’s upward gaze reflects that constant search for something larger, reaching beyond the landscapes I grew up in, pushing for something greater inside and outside myself. There’s a raw intensity here, like the wild energy of nature itself, but it’s balanced by the quiet confidence that comes from years of introspective growth in isolation. The words woven into the piece are a reminder of the trust needed to nurture creativity—it’s a lot like tending to the land. Both take patience, faith, and a whole lot of resilience when facing doubt and uncertainty.
