One of my favorite days spent at my grandmother's was when the Avon Lady visited. Grandmamma would drape fresh lace on the dining room table, have a blueberry pie cooling, and with coffee brewing strong, a fresh pack of cigarettes sat on standby. They'd sit for hours, flipping through the glossy catalog, their laughter swirling with the cigarette smoke. I was gifted those little white sample tubes of lipstick at the end, and those became one of my earliest explorations with color.
